Workshop on “Laser-plasma and RF Accelerators: Complementarity and Synergies”, May 12 to 14, 2025, IJCLab (Orsay)

The objective of this workshop is to present the state of the art in laser-plasma acceleration with regard to the current performance of radiofrequency accelerators and the needs for future generations of accelerators with a view to improving synergies between the two technologies. Beyond developing synergies and complementarities, one of the main goals is to identify application areas where laser-plasma acceleration could be relevant in the short, medium, or long term and, by comparing it to the current performance of RF accelerators, highlight the remaining challenges.

After a few general presentations, the workshop will be organized into sessions focusing on light sources, medical applications, and other applications of ALP, as well as ALP challenges and the coupling between ALP and RF accelerators. Ample time will be set aside for discussion.

Finally, a visit of the Appolon laser facility was proposed.

Annual meeting of the network, December 2024, CEA Saclay

The GDR held its first annual conference on December 18, 2024. This conference brought together 50 participants at the CEA in Saclay. Several presentations provided an overview of the GDR and its actions since its launch and illustrated each of the thematic areas. The afternoon was devoted to visits to the CEA’s accelerator facilities. The presentations are available here.

Workshop on computing and simulations for accelerators, October 2024, IJCLab

The GDR organized a workshop on computing from October 16 to 17, 2024. It brought together 73 participants at IJCLab. This workshop was dedicated to computing and simulation tools for the design, construction, and optimization of accelerator operations. It was structured around four main themes: beam dynamics, multi-physics modeling, plasma simulations, optimization, and AI. The presentations are available here.
